From August 24 to 27, a delegation of writers from the Military Literature Magazine visited Division 324, Engineer Brigade 414 and Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command, gaining firsthand insight into the training, combat readiness and daily life of today’s soldiers.
At Division 324, Military Region 4, the writers met with Senior Colonel Nguyen Huy Long, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Division, and Senior Colonel Nguyen Minh Cuong, Deputy Political Commissar.
With more than 71 years of building, fighting and development, Division 324 has forged a proud tradition of “steadfast courage, continuous offensive spirit, solidarity and victory.” As a full-strength regular division, it identifies training and combat readiness as central tasks and is preparing for a Military Region defensive exercise.

At the division’s memorial house and traditional room, stories of generations of officers and soldiers who fought and sacrificed helped the writers understand how those traditions continue today. They also learned about initiatives supporting soldiers’ morale and strengthening bonds with comrades, units and families.
At Regiment 1, Division 324, in Nghe An Province, the delegation observed training and met young soldiers. Senior Colonel and poet Thai Thuy said the trip gave him “a different perspective on today’s soldiers,” who are continuing the Army’s traditions through their daily work.

On August 26, the delegation visited Engineer Brigade 414 - Hai Van Brigade, where preparations for the upcoming exercise were in full swing. Pontoon sections were assembled and checked, while personnel, vehicles and equipment remained ready for missions. The brigade’s vegetable gardens and fish ponds reflected soldiers’ self-reliance and care for their daily lives.
The Women’s Union and Youth Union of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command visit and present gifts to the search and repatriation team bound for Laos.
At Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command, the writers met members of a team preparing to search for and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts in Houaphanh Province, Laos. Their stories revealed the patience, endurance and sacrifice required by the mission.
Across four days and three destinations, the writers saw today’s soldiers not only in major missions, but also in training, daily work and quiet acts of dedication. From the training ground to the search for fallen comrades, these ordinary yet demanding moments continue to embody the courage, will and enduring spirit of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers” in peacetime.
