The seminar titled “70 Years of Military Literature: The Journey of Soldier-Writers” took place on October 1, which is one of the key activities leading up to the 70th anniversary of the first issue of Military Literature Magazine, and celebrating major historical milestones of the Vietnam People’s Army.

Delegates take part in the seminar pay tribute in front of the memorial house for heroic special forces martyrs.

Below is the welcome speech by Major General Nguyen Quoc Duan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Special Forces Command:

Today, the Special Forces Command is deeply honored to host the scientific seminar titled ‘70 Years of Military Literature: The Journey of Soldier-Writers’. This is a highly meaningful activity highlighting the close and enduring bond between military writers and the Special Forces over half a century of building, fighting, and growing.

Throughout the history of the Special Forces, our soldiers have always cherished literature and art. Every page of writing, poem, song, and sketch serves as a faithful and humble companion, elevating the spiritual beauty of the soldier. The outstanding feats of the Special Forces, ranging from the resistance wars to peacetime and national renewal, have become a profound inspiration for military artists to create works serving the troops, the People, and the Fatherland.

Major General Nguyen Quoc Duan, Political Commissar of the Special Forces Command, arranges the floral tribute before offering incense.

Established on March 19, 1967, the Special Forces were honored to welcome President Ho Chi Minh, who directly instructed our troops that special forces mean special tasks, special honor, requiring special effort, and any special task must be completed successfully.

For nearly 60 years, our forces have fought across battlefields, participating in major campaigns such as the Tet Offensive in 1968, the Route 9 and Southern Laos Campaign in 1971, the Easter Offensive in 1972, and the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, earning the Gold Star Order and the traditional sixteen golden words of being specially elite, utterly heroic, resourceful and bold, and striking with precision and winning big.

Participants gather at the solemn ceremony.

Accompanying the footsteps of our special forces, military writers including the Military Literature Magazine have created enduring literary works about our soldiers.

Notably, Major General and writer Dung Ha, a former Editor-in-Chief of the magazine who transferred from the Special Forces, served as a vital bridge connecting our branch with the literary world.

The art of special forces combat and the artistry of military writers are both arts needed by the People and the Fatherland. Reviewing our glorious traditions today allows us to honor these values and continue fostering the noble image of Uncle Ho’s soldier in the new era.

Earlier, the delegation of delegates attending the seminar titled ‘70 Years of Military Literature: The Journey of Soldier-Writers’ offered incense to commemorate the contributions and sacrifices of the heroic special forces martyrs.
