The Landscape Rhythms exhibition is underway at No. 8 Thi Sach Lane in Hanoi, featuring more than 30 lacquer and acrylic works by five artists, namely Dau Quang Anh, Tran Dinh Binh, Chu Viet Cuong, Vu Duc Hieu (Hieu Muong), and Trinh Vu Hieu.
The exhibition, which opened on August 8, explores landscape as a space where memory, identity and contemporary life meet. Each artist brings a distinctive visual rhythm, together creating a multifaceted portrait of Hanoi and its surrounding areas.
Dau Quang Anh draws on memories of Hanoi, blending figurative and abstract approaches to evoke the city through nostalgic impressions.
Tran Dinh Binh offers quieter perspectives, capturing urban landscapes, architecture and heritage as they change over time.
Chu Viet Cuong focuses on everyday life and the remaining traces of rural landscapes around the rapidly developing capital, preserving moments that may soon become memories.
Vu Duc Hieu explores the more subdued side of northern landscapes, using twilight and restrained light to create a sense of mystery.
Trinh Vu Hieu turns to familiar cultural symbols, including chrysanthemums, lotus flowers, phoenixes, ancient ceramics and Buddha statues, to express an inner landscape shaped by northern Vietnamese identity.
Together, the five artists present Hanoi as both familiar and unfamiliar, traditional and contemporary, constantly changing yet deeply rooted in memory.
