The event was organised by the chapter of the Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic in the South Moravian region, with the support of authorities of Brno city, as part of activities in preparation for the 20th founding anniversary of the association in October 2019 and the 70th founding anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties in February 2020.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Ho Minh Tuan said the event is designed to promote Vietnamese culture to people in the European nation and strengthen the bonds between the Vietnamese community in the country and local people.
He voiced his hope that through the “Day of Vietnamese Culture”, Vietnamese people living in the Czech Republic in general and Brno city in particular will work to enhance mutual understanding and solidarity between the two countries.
Marek Fisher, a member of the Brno City Council, said the event fosters exchanges between the Czech people and the Vietnamese community in the country and helps local residents gain an insight into the Vietnamese culture.
Popular dishes of Vietnam were served at the event, along with art performances featuring the country’s traditional musical instruments.
