The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Writers’ Association admitted 62 new members at a conference reviewing and deploying tasks for 2026, held in Hanoi on February 1.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Quang Thieu, President of the Vietnam Writers’ Association, stressed that joining the association is not about personal gain, but about taking on responsibility.

He said membership requires writers to be accountable for their way of life, their public voice, and, above all, the quality of their work.
Literature, he noted, is a demanding path, especially at a time when time for writing is increasingly limited, requiring true commitment and dedication from those who choose it.
Thieu expressed his hope that writers will continue to create with a fresh, honest, and forthright spirit, helping make Vietnamese literature more lucid, profound, and humane.

Looking ahead to 2026, the association will carry out several key tasks, including streamlining its organizational structure in line with higher-level directives. The 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Writers’ Association is also planned for August or September.
The Executive Committee will study the formulation of regulations on expelling members, alongside admission rules, to safeguard the Association’s reputation and the integrity of Vietnamese literature in cases of serious violations in writing, speech, or conduct.

In 2025, the association established new chapters in line with updated administrative units, expanded existing ones, and organized conferences marking 50 years of Vietnamese literature since national reunification, alongside dialogues supporting young writers and future generations.
