The ASEAN Music Festival 2019 was opened in Hai Phong on the evening of May 25 aiming to promote culture and arts cooperation between Vietnam and ASEAN member countries.

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai said that the Vietnamese Government has always paid special attention to culture exchanges between Vietnam and ASEAN member countries, noting that the music festival is among one of many cultural events to boost international cooperation in the areas of culture and arts.
The festival is also an opportunity for Hai Phong to present its images as a friendly city with a lot of potential in tourism and culture, Hai said.
The festival saw the participation of more than 60 artists from six ASEAN countries including Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand.
The host Vietnam sent about 100 artists from four art troupes across three different regions to participate in the event.
The week-long festival will conclude on May 31and the Organising Board will present prizes for the most outstanding performances.
The festival is jointly held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Musicians’ Association, and Hai Phong Department of Culture and Sports.
