The Military Region 7 Command and Ho Chi Minh City authorities on October 14 held a solemn memorial and reburial ceremony at the City War Cemetery for 731 fallen soldiers whose remains were recovered at Le Thi Rieng Park.

A delegation of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, led by General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Member of the Politburo and Chairman of the General Department of Political Affairs of the Vietnam People’s Army, pays tribute.
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, alongside incumbent and former high-ranking Party, State, and military officials, attended the service. Delegates offered incense and paid tribute to the heroes who sacrificed their lives for national independence and peace.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee stated that 731 sets of remains were recovered between June 23 and October 13, though most remain unidentified.
Reaffirming the tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source,” he pledged that local forces will continue searching for fallen soldiers until no leads remain.
Following the service, the funeral cortege transported the remains across a 26-kilometer route to the City War Cemetery. Lining the streets, local residents held national flags and white chrysanthemums, sending off the fallen soldiers with profound gratitude and lasting remembrance.
Organized by Military Region 7 and the city government, the reburial honors the heroic sacrifices of Vietnam’s martyrs.
