A 10-day military and revolutionary war literature camp in Vung Tau Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, concluded with 15 completed manuscripts, highlighting the enduring appeal of literature about soldiers and wartime experiences.

Organized by the People’s Army Publishing House from August 10 to 20, the camp brought together writers at the Southern Writers’ Center, where they completed nine novels, four epics and two literary memoir collections.
Several newcomers with first-hand military experience joined the camp alongside established military writers, bringing diverse perspectives and experiences to their work.
The closing ceremony brought together seven generals and Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces, whose presence underscored the importance attached to military literature and encouraged participating writers.

Colonel and writer Pham Xuan Truong, Director of the People’s Army Publishing House, said continued support from the General Department of Political Affairs has helped nurture a strong community of writers and produce works contributing to Vietnam’s literary life.
The camp also recalled the success of Chu Lai’s Red Rain, written at a similar camp a decade ago, raising hopes for another landmark work from the latest generation of military writers.
