In the final days of October, as historic floods swept across central Vietnam, images of soldiers and militia members braving danger to rescue residents became a powerful symbol of compassion and solidarity.
Putting people first - helping them as they would their own families - thousands of officers and soldiers from Military Zone 5 mobilized swiftly despite torrential rain and high winds to reinforce homes, harvest crops, and evacuate residents and livestock from low-lying areas in Danang, Quang Ngai, and Gia Lai.
