The 75th anniversary of National Day, September 2, was celebrated on Tuesday in Geneva by Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the UN, the World Trade Organization (WTO) and other international organizations.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai, head of the mission, said that Vietnam has been pursuing a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of relations, and active international integration and cooperation on the basis of respect for other countries’ independence and territorial sovereignty, equality, mutual benefit, and settlement of differences via peaceful means and compliance with international law.

The Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic marked the National Day at a ceremony in Prague on Tuesday. Addressing the event, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis highly appreciated cooperation between the two countries in many fields, especially at the onset of the COVID-19 crisis. The Czech Prime Minister also expressed his belief that the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union (EU) and Vietnam, which officially came into effect on August 1, 2020, will contribute to trade relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa, published articles on the significance of the National Day on local media and set up an online platform for videos featuring Vietnam’s economic and commercial achievements and its people, tourism and cuisine to friends, diplomatic delegations and international organizations in South Africa.
In Canada, the online museum dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh officially opened to visitors on Wednesday. Viewers can admire portraits of the leader of the Vietnamese people, and enjoy songs about him, and his famous quotes. The online museum also introduces works by Professor Julie Nguyen (Nguyen Dai Trang) who spent more than 25 years researching and writing books about President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam's history.
The Vietnam Embassy in Egypt organized an event to promote the culture and image of the country and people of Vietnam. Ambassador Tran Thanh Cong hosted a press conference to introduce Vietnam's cultural and culinary beauty to the Egyptian media and friends. He said, “Relationships are built on culture and communication channels. Today, in order to get closer together, it’s very important to promote the image of each country on the mass media. On this occasion, we are screening films on Vietnamese food, dances and songs on Egyptian media channels so that the Egyptians can better understand the land and people of Vietnam.”
An exhibition of more than 130 pictures featuring Laos-Vietnam cooperation in the struggle for national independence as well as in national construction and defense is underway in the Lao National Cultural Palace in Vientiane. The Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism and the Vietnam Embassy in Laos are jointly organizing the exhibition, which will close on Thursday.
Laos celebrated Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day at a meeting on Wednesday in Vientiane. Speaking at the meeting, Lao National Assembly Chairperson Pany Yatthotu wished Vietnam to continue to record greater achievements as the Chair of ASEAN and AIPA in 2020 and a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 term.
Also on Wednesday, the Vietnamese Association in Udon Thani province, Northeastern Thailand, marked the National Day and offered incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at the Ho Chi Minh relic site in Nong On village.
