In celebration of the 80th anniversary of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, the department has been honored with the First-Class Independence Medal. The award ceremony will be held as part of the anniversary celebrations on December 12 in Hanoi.

This event is one of a series of activities marking the 80th anniversary of the General Department, which spans from December 22, 1944 to December 22, 2024.
These events not only commemorate this significant milestone but also recognize and pay tribute to the 80 years of construction, combat, and development by generations of officials, staff, soldiers, and workers in the General Department. Their intellect, effort, and sacrifices have contributed to the department's glorious traditions, embodying the principles of loyalty, exemplary conduct, democratic values, proactivity, creativity, sharp insight, unity, and determination to succeed.
Key activities will include the release of promotional materials highlighting the 80-year history of the department, widespread educational campaigns across the military and nationwide, and the publication of the “History of the Vietnam People’s Army, Volume III, 2014-2024.” Additionally, a photo book titled “80 Years – The Glorious Journey of the Vietnam People’s Army” will be launched.
Other planned events include the premiere of the traditional film “80 Years Steadfast Under the Party's Flag,” a competition to raise awareness of the 80th anniversary, and a historical exhibition showcasing books, documents, and publications related to the Political General Department. This exhibition is set to take place from December 4, 2024, to January 31, 2025, at the Vietnam Military History Museum in Nam Tu Liem District.
A scientific workshop titled “The General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army – 80 Years Steadfast Under the Party's Flag” will also be held.
