A photo exhibition with the theme "Hanoi I love", showcasing outstanding works of the 51st art photo contest of the Hanoi Association of Photographic Artists, opened on December 17 at Hanoi Exhibition Hall, 45 Trang Tien, Hanoi, as part of the activities to mark the 1011th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi (October, 1010 - October, 2021).

Visitors at the exhibition.

This year's contest attracted nearly 300 authors with 1,842 photo works. The jury selected 146 works for the exhibition, 14 of which were awarded prizes, with 2 second prizes, 2 third prizes and 10 consolation prizes.

The photo works are precious moments in all fields of politics, economy, culture, society, education, health, science and technology, social security, national security and defence, enhancing communication save, and international integration.

At the same time, the photos also show the beauty in the cultural and spiritual life of the people of the capital in preserving and promoting the national cultural identity, building a civilized and elegant capital, thus reflecting the realisation of dual goal of boosting production and economic development while effectively preventing and controlling the COVID-19 epidemic.

Not only the winning photos, but also the photo works selected to introduce in this exhibition are very vivid and beautiful photos. Each photo depicts the beauty of the landscape and people of Hanoi during the renovation period, while at the same time praising the people who worked in production and built a life. Although the COVID-19 epidemic does not know when to end, the city and the people of the capital with a love for Hanoi and the belief of victory overcome all challenges.

From December 18, 2021, to January 2, 2022, another exhibition, named “Hanoi is”, will introduce the 29 best works of the illustration contest by the same name that was launched in August 2021.

The works in the exhibition show the image of a new Hanoi through the eyes of young people, both new and familiar, with stories embedded in each author's imagination about his city. The works show the unique experiences of young artists, including those who have never been to the capital, bringing interesting surprises.

The illustration contest is a part of the Hanoi Rethink project organised by UNESCO, UN-Habitat and UNIDO with the support of SOVICO Group to support Hanoi in realising its vision of becoming Creative Capital in the field of design, exploring cultural heritage with the engagement of Vietnamese youth who is an essential element for innovation, creativity, and change.

The contest aims to promot the capital city as a city of innovation, worthy of the title “Hanoi - Creative City” awarded by UNESCO in 2019.

The exhibition is open daily from 8:00am to 6:00 pm, from Monday to Saturday, at the French Cultural Institute in Hanoi, at No.24 Trang Tien, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi. The exhibition is open to the public free of charge.
