The “Red Rain-Honoring Sacrifice Through the Lens” exhibition, organized by the People’s Army Cinema, brings to life the heroic memories of the 1972 battle at Quang Tri Citadel.
Held in Hanoi to mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day (September 2), and the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, the exhibition pays heartfelt tribute to those who sacrificed for Vietnam’s independence and peace.

Colonel Nguyen Thu Dung, Director of the People’s Army Cinema, delivers the opening speech at the exhibition.
The exhibition serves as a moving prelude to the upcoming feature film Red Rain, adapted from the 2016 novel by author and film advisor Chu Lai. Set during the harrowing 81-day siege of the citadel, the film captures one of the fiercest battles in modern Vietnamese history.
Displayed are 40 photographs taken during the film’s production, raw, emotional moments from the set, reenacted battlefield scenes, and scale models recreating the citadel. Each image reflects the sweat, tears, and steely determination behind the project, embodying the resilience and heroism of Vietnam’s soldiers.

Delegates, guests, and actors tour the exhibition.
More than a war story, Red Rain is a reminder to younger generations that today’s peace was won through great sacrifice. The film premieres on August 22 and officially screens nationwide starting September 2.
