The organizing committee of the Vietnamese Writers' Association awarded prizes to seven works from 208 submissions at the 2025 literature work implementation conference on January 15.
In the prose category, the short story "On the Peak of Heaven" by Y Ban and the novel "A Family with Four Sisters" by Pham Thi Bich Thuy were recognized.
Poetry awards went to "Field" by Tran Le Khanh, "Epic Song" by Nguyen Tien Thanh, and "Resurrection" by Dao Quoc Minh.
In literary theory and criticism, Tran Hoai Anh won for "Literary Theory and Criticism of Southern Literature 1954 - 1975: Reception and Application." No awards were given in the translation category.
In children's literature, the prize was awarded to "The Flying Bus" by Mai Chi and Huynh Long.
The Young Author Award went to Vo Dang Khoa for "The Flying Camel" and Phung Huong Ly for "Under the Shade of the Frangipani Flowers."
A new category, the Impressive Female Writer Award for 2024, was awarded to poet Do Thi Tac and novelist Doan Phuong Huyen.
The ceremony also saw the induction of 60 new members into the Vietnamese Writers' Association across various genres, including prose, poetry, theory, translation, and children's literature.
Additionally, the association announced that the 11th Congress of the Vietnamese Writers' Association is set for April 2025, marking a time to reflect on 50 years of Vietnamese literature and to establish a new position for future values.
The 23rd Vietnamese Poetry Day, themed "The Motherland Soars Up", will also be organized, alongside the event "Parade in Peace".
The conference was attended by the Vietnamese Writers' Association Executive Committee and many writers, poets, and critics.
Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, President of the Vietnamese Writers' Association, and writer Nguyen Binh Phuong, Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of the Army Literature and Arts Magazine, presented the 2024 Vietnamese Writers' Association Awards to the winners.
