A delegation from southern provinces, businesses, and both central and local press agencies on January 4 met the officers and soldiers of the Naval Region 5 and presented over 200 early Lunar New Year gifts.
During the ceremony, Colonel Luc Duc Tien, Deputy Commander of Naval Region 5, noted that in the early days of 2025, the region welcomed representatives from various provinces, businesses, and 39 journalists from 29 media outlets.
This visit aimed to encourage and extend New Year wishes to the troops stationed on the southwestern islands, highlighting the deep connection and support from the mainland towards these vital maritime areas during the festive season.
Truong Thanh Danh, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Long Provine, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to visit and present early New Year gifts to the personnel of Naval Region 5.
This trip allowed leaders to witness firsthand the living conditions and challenges faced by the officers and soldiers on the southwestern islands. Such insights will help inform policies that provide support and encouragement, bolstering the resolve of these frontline troops to protect the nation’s maritime sovereignty.
The delegation also delivered gifts to officers and soldiers stationed on Phu Quoc Island, Hon Doc Island, Tho Chu Island, Hon Khoai Island, Hon Chuoi Island, and Nam Du Island, all part of Vietnam’s southwestern waters.
The delegation from southern provinces, businesses, and both central and local media agencies donated over 200 Lunar New Year gifts to the officers and soldiers of the Naval Region 5.
The gifts from the mainland were transported by ship before reaching the distant island soldiers.
A delegation from Binh Duong Province visited Battalion 553 in Phu Quoc to extend New Year wishes.
