The seminar “The Responsibilities and Aspirations of Poets” celebrated the beauty of poetry and opened a space for discussion about the writer's role amidst societal changes.
Part of the 23rd Vietnam Poetry Day, the seminar took place on February 12 at Hoang Son Hotel in Hoa Lu City, Ninh Binh Province. The event aimed to affirm the vibrant presence of poetry in spiritual life and inspire creative aspirations among poets.
Nguyen Binh Phuong, Vice President of the Vietnam Writers' Association and Editor-in-Chief of the Military Literature Magazine, emphasized that poetry helps individuals transcend life’s challenges, appreciate its beauty, and aspire to higher ideals.
“Poetry creates a yearning for people to reach for," he said, linking this aspiration closely to the artist’s responsibility.
Phuong noted that the seminar's focus aligns with Vietnam Poetry Day’s theme, “The Homeland Soars.”
Artistic works that achieve certain values can have a significant impact on society, emphasizing the great responsibility artists hold. The seminar sought diverse opinions to clarify contemporary poetry issues and highlight perspectives on Vietnamese poetry, the vice president said.
Discussions focused on crucial topics such as poetry’s role in spiritual life, the responsibilities of poets, and the artistic and ideological values in contemporary poetry.
This dialogue aimed to enhance poets’ understanding of their mission, fostering a poetic landscape that is both artistically rich and reflective of real life, contributing to the development of national culture.
